ASSISTANT SPA DIRECTOR

The Assistant Spa Director is responsible for assisting the Spa Director in the day-to-day responsibilities in the Spa as well as responsible for maintaining a high standard of excellence within the spa team. They are highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to keep track of multiple moving parts to support the Absolutely Fabulous brand. They also value integrity and leading by example, are a natural people-person, and will provide an extraordinary experience for Absolutely Fabulous Spa member

The principle duties for the Assistant Spa Director will include, but are not limited to:

Operations

  • Oversee and assist in managing all aspects of spa operations

  • Consistently creates a friendly environment for our guests by greeting and assisting as well as quickly responding to customer questions and needs

  • Maintains quality service by enforcing organizational standards

  • Organize Daily Huddles and manage Scoreboard Daily

  • Co-manage team member schedules with the Spa Director

  • Inventory and supply management and assisting with weekly orders

  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the spa facilities and working operation of all Spa equipment

  • Participate in interviewing and hiring Spa Associates.

  • Local Marketing

Leadership/Team Development

  • Provides strong leadership presence by demonstrating desired behavior for staff including a focus on membership sales, customer service, cash management, retail sales, member retention, staff interaction, and follow-up with guests.

  • Identifies training needs and providing ongoing training opportunities to the team as needed 

  • Roleplay with each Spa Associate to sharpen skills

  • Train Front Desk Associates to required processes

 

Communication/Meetings

  • Send Weekly updates to Spa Associates providing prior week conversion rates, highlights for the week, and tips for improving and relevant information.

  • Collaborate with Spa Director in monthly Spa Associate check-ins and quarterly reviews to cover prior month results and set goals for the new month.

  • Collaborate with Spa Director in developing content and participating in regular meetings with the Spa Associate team.

Sales

  • Know and track all key performance indicators (KPI’s) for the Spa and each Spa Therapist.

  • Assist with developing and administering sales contests and initiatives.

  • Assists in setting and achieving membership and retail sales goals

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Be on time for your shift.

  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality no-compromise work environment.

  • Regularly attend, participate in, and support training and staff meetings for the spa.

  • Communicate to management all occurrences involving staff or guests that require attention.

  • Work with peers to solve problems and promote teamwork.

  • Ability to identify and problem solve, set expectations, goals, and delegate

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate staff

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-up skills

  • Must be enthusiastic, personable, and ambitious

  • Ability to work a minimum of 34-40 hours per week

  • Mindbody Software experience a plus

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • If an offer is made, employment may be contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.

  • Qualified individuals must have 2 years’ front desk customer service; Spa or hospitality environment is preferred.

  • Excellent supervisory, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Must be able to lead and motivate.

  • Must be detail-oriented and can multi-task.

  • Ability to be efficient and productive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong computer skills are required.

  • Appointment booking software knowledge preferred

  • Ability to analyze the needs of guests.

  • Must be comfortable with verbal discussions and answering questions.

  • Basic knowledge of math, cash handling, and credit card processing.

  • Ability to stay composed and calm and have strong interpersonal skills while handling difficult Guests, courteously, and professionally.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position will be directly responsible for managing employees during shift.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This position must be able to stay on their feet for long periods of time.

  • Able to reach, bend, climb, grasp, kneel, push, pull and twist as needed.

  • Must read and write English in a clear and concise manner.

TRAVEL:

  • Local travel to meetings and training may be required.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Performance will be discussed with the Spa Director on a regular basis
